Under the direction and instruction of Mrs. Monica Schraiber Otero,
Summer Art Camp is a three-week program during the month of July for children ages 5-11.
Focusing on Creativity, Imagination and Ingenuity, the program offers partipants a unique opportunity
to acquire or improve artistic skills, learn new techniques, explore different media and
get inspired by famous artists and cultures from around the globe.

3 cycles are scheduled Monday - Friday   10AM- 3PM

July 7-25

Cycle I - July 7 - 18

Cycle II – July 14 - 18

Cycle III - July 21 – 25

CENTRAL THEME:  Nature: the ultimate artist

During this three-week program discover how Art relates to Nature as you find fascinating colors, patterns, and shapes in the animal and plant kingdoms.  Explore habitats and ecosystems of different species on land and sea and learn about their unique characteristics. Zebras, giraffes, tigers, leopards, turtles, birds, fish, butterflies and insects as well as trees, plants and flowers will be depicted using a variety of materials.

Create 2-D and 3-D pieces including drawings, paintings, prints, collages and sculptures and see how famous artists have represented the beauty in Nature.

Excursions to Best Lake (behind the building) provide campers with the opportunity to do artwork in a natural setting, weather permitting.

PROJECTS VARY EVERY WEEK

Art Camp culminates with an EXHIBITION in the Lower Gallery featuring works from all cycles. View previous gallery at watchungarts.org

Campers will design their own T-shirt!
